We have several open Board Positions and welcome the interest of anyone who would bring active participation to the governance of this excellent organization.
Dr. Michael Essary has over 29 years of executive financial and operational experience. He also has over 25 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level. He has earned the CPIM certification from APICS, the world’s leading operations management professional society and an ASQ CQIA certification. Dr. Essary has been elected twice by the faculty to serve as the Presiding Office of the Faculty Senate. He has served as Department Chair for the Logistics and Supply Chain and Contract and Acquisition Department and as the Department Chair of the Management of Technology Department. Dr. Essary is the past President of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of APICS. He has been requested to provide workforce development and APICS certification training to a number of major companies including Steelcase, United Launch Alliance, Hexcel Daikin and others.
Executive Vice President
Timothy Hobbs is a native of Chicago, Illinois and have been passionate about supply chain since his first job in warehousing at the early age of 18. He has been engaged for nearly 17 years since holding both leadership and managerial roles within the supply chain field. He currently serves as a Global Supply Chain Buyer within International Supply Chain and Procurement at ADTRAN, INC. Timothy is a graduate of Athens State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and is currently completing his Masters of Business Administration as well as Masters of Supply Chain Management from Florida Institute of Technology. He has served in various capacities for the Tennessee Valley APICS chapter including Executive Vice-President, Vice-President of Programs, and has served as the TNVL APICS chapter representative at both national and district APICS meetings. Timothy is excited about the growth for the TNVL APICS chapter and openly welcomes new participation.

Stuart Sleper has been involved with supply chain and operations management for all of his 25 year career. Stuart has a Bachelor's from Michigan State University, as well as his MBA. He is a Six Sigma Blackbelt and holds the following certifications: CSCP, CPIM & CPM. Stuart is currently the President & CEO at XL Specialized Trailers. Stuart previously served as the Director of Global Supply Chain for Parker Hannifin Corporation, a Fortune 200 Company and has been with Parker for five years. Stuart has a passion for supply chain management and has been very active in APICS & Institute for Supply Mgt. (ISM) for most of his professional career.

Matt has been a member of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of APICS since moving to Huntsville in 2010 and previously served as the chapter's Treasurer. Matt completed both an undergraduate degree and MBA from Auburn University. He received his CSCP certification through APICS and is also an APICS certified instructor. Matt previously held a variety of supply chain roles with Bush Hog, LLC and Hyundai and is currently serves as the Division Supply Chain Manager for Parker Hannifin.

Luana Waits is a Master Production Scheduler in the operations and supply chain department at Izzy+ in Florence, Alabama. Luana has majored in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Athens State University. She is currently enrolled in the MBA ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) with SAP software at University of North Alabama in Florence Alabama. Her published journal entitled “Beyond China: Is Burma the New Frontier?” underscores her research and interest in global enterprise systems management in the world of supply chain management.
